WGS, a semiconductor process diagnosis and machine vision specialist, announced that it has been selected for the private investment technology startup support program ‘TIPS’.
The TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup Korea) program is a program that selects startup teams with technology items that lead the global market in a private-led manner and intensively fosters promising future startups.
WGS was selected for TIPS in 2023 with the recommendation of Korea Science and Technology Holdings, the TIPS operator, and will receive up to 700 million won in funds (500 million won for R&D, 100 million won for startup commercialization, 100 million won for overseas marketing) for R&D, startup commercialization, and overseas expansion.
WGS is a company that provides solutions for diagnosing/analyzing the status of processes using plasma during semiconductor/display manufacturing processes and defect inspection solutions using camera vision using various sensor data.
In the current situation where the importance of manufacturing yield is highlighted in advanced industrial fields such as semiconductor/display, secondary battery/hydrogen fuel cell, etc., WGS’s diagnosis/inspection solution was developed to improve manufacturing yield and maximize customer profits, and is conducting research and development to be utilized in more industries.
A WGS official said, “In the field of semiconductor process diagnosis, there are only one or two domestic companies, and the dependence on foreign companies is high, but our company’s technology will be a good opportunity to be supplied to domestic industries along with the trend of expanding domestic supply chains due to global supply chain issues.”
